About Artifex

Artifex IconAudrey Nezer established Artifex in 1995 with the idea that cool communications that move people to act need not be the exclusive domain of the for-profit world. Today, we communicate the serious work of social service nonprofits with creativity, thought and, if it works, humor.

Each organization we work with is eager for refined, consistent communications to spread its message. Each is dedicated to a particular social purpose and needs to communicate to potential supporters in a compelling way. We develop print and digital communications that achieve specific goals. No matter the media, the materials always focus on positive outcomes, conveying tough social issues in a hopeful light. We get behind the missions of our clients and design effective ways to achieve them. Artifex is now a fifteen-year-old, award-winning company. With a deep history of working with social service nonprofits, we understand the unique challenge of communicating with donors, reaching those who need services, and pleasing the board of directors, within the boundaries of limited resources.

About Audrey

Photo of Audrey“In the late 1970s, Matchbox Press came into my third-grade classroom in Lexington, Massachusetts with a platen press, a large box of metal type, scraps of linoleum and a collection of carving tools. Over the course of a month, the class created a priceless collection of original poetry and hand-carved linoleum-printed graphics entitled The Best of Room 3. I was hooked.  A BFA in Graphic Design from George Washington University and professional design experience in London, Washington, D.C. and Seattle followed. I'm obsessive about cleaning up visual clutter. Working with social service nonprofits permits me to indulge that obsession productively.” Audrey lives on Vashon Island, a 15 minute ferry ride from Seattle.
